What Is Hinglish?
Hinglish is Hindi written with English (Roman) letters, often mixed with English words. You see it everywhere: WhatsApp chats, Instagram captions, YouTube comments and text messages. Instead of writing “आप कैसे हैं”, people write “aap kaise hain”. It is fast to type because every phone and computer already has an English keyboard, and there is no need to learn a new layout.
Hinglish has no official spelling. The same word can be written in several ways, such as “nahi”, “nahin” or “nahee”. That is fine for casual chats, but if you want clean Hindi text for a document or a post, converting to Devanagari gives a more professional result.
How to Write Hinglish Online in 4 Easy Steps
Step 1: Think in sounds. Write each word the way it sounds, for example “ghar”, “dost”, “pyaar”. Step 2: Use double vowels for long sounds. Write “aa” for आ, “ee” for ई and “oo” for ऊ, so “aap” becomes आप and “teen” becomes तीन. Step 3: Use “h” for aspirated sounds. “kh”, “gh”, “chh”, “th”, “dh”, “bh” and “sh” give ख, घ, छ, थ, ध, भ and श. Step 4: Paste into the tool above and copy the Hindi output.
Keep sentences short and use spaces between words. End a sentence with a full stop, and the tool turns it into the Hindi danda (।).

Tips for Better Hinglish Spelling
Be consistent: pick one spelling for each word and keep using it. Avoid SMS shortcuts like “kia” for “kya” if you plan to convert the text. Write English words in English, such as “office” or “meeting”, and Hindi words in Roman Hindi. If a result looks wrong, try a slightly different spelling, such as adding a double vowel for a long sound. For names, check the final Hindi spelling carefully, because names often have more than one correct form.
